Anglo Irish Bank is due to publish its results for the six months to March on Thursday but, as Brian Lenihan has admitted, the losses will be “somewhat beyond expectations”, in fact at between €3.5 billion and €4 billion they are like to be Ireland’s biggest corporate loss to date and state capital significantly beyond the €1.5 billion promised by Mr Lenihan before the bank was nationalised.
