Further to our earlier post and in what seems to be a complete lack of media interest and reporting, legislation to extend of the bank guarantee scheme beyond its initial two-year period has passed all stages in the Dáil by 74 votes to 60. A key provision of this Bill allows Minister for Finance to extend the bank guarantee scheme by Ministerial Order.
Labour’s Pat Rabbitte claims the Bill gave the Minister unlimited powers. The Bill is now before the Seanad.
